a footnote…
Our area was originally named “St Patrick Plains”, as it was discovered by John Howe two days before St Patrick’s Day in 1820.
Some 100 years on, the name was shortened to “Patrick Plains”. It was only in the mid 1970’s that the local shire council changed their name from Patrick Plains Shire Council.
